Senior Citizens Council - Mauritius
Senior Citizens Council – Established in 1985 – Republic of Mauritius

DearAll,

Welcome to the website of the Senior Citizens Council, a body corporate under the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity in Mauritius dedicated to enhancing the lives of our senior citizens. Our mission centers on fostering an active and fulfilling lifestyle for seniors, addressing their unique needs, and advocating for their rights and welfare.

Our objectives are designed to ensure that seniors remain vibrant members of our community. We implement various activities and projects aimed at keeping our seniors engaged and active. We also actively identify areas where improvements in their welfare are needed, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.

Effective communication with seniors is a cornerstone of our work, and we strive to maintain an open dialogue to understand their needs better. Additionally, we seek to establish connections with local and international organizations that share our commitment to improving the lives of senior citizens. This collaboration is crucial as we work collectively towards common goals.

In alignment with recommendations from esteemed bodies such as the International Federation on Ageing (IFA), the Fédération Internationale des Associations des Personnes Âgées (FIAPA), HelpAge International, and the UN Inter-Agency Group on Ageing, we are particularly attuned to the new and emerging challenges faced by the elderly in our society. These include issues related to health care, social isolation, and financial security, among others. By staying informed and responsive to these challenges, we aim to advise our government effectively on policies and initiatives that will enhance the well-being of our seniors.

We invite you to explore our website for updates, and opportunities for involvement. Your engagement is vital in furthering our mission to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our older citizens.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,
